Anna Filipova is an award-winning visual journalist, documentary photographer, filmmaker and researcher. She has been working for the International New York Times, International Herald Tribune, BBC, National Geographic Society and has been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Guardian, BBC, Wired and Reuters, amongst others.
Anna specialise on the Arctic and Antarctic regions where she explores environmental and scientific topics based in remote and inaccessible areas. She is a grantee of the Pulitzer Center, European Journalism Centre, International Women’s Media Foundation and National Geographic.
In 2021 Anna’s project on the biggest Ground Satellite Station in the World, was selected as one of the New York Times Photo project’s of the Year. She was selected by Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris (France), as a Climate heroine. Anna has collaborated on projects with important institutions such as: Norwegian Polar Institute, Norwegian Institute for Air Research, The Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar Research, Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, European Space Agency, Danish meteorological institute, Global Seed Vault, Centre for Ice and Climate Niels Bohr Institute, NASA, National Science Foundation, Polar Bear International amongst others. Anna’s work have been showed at Climate UN summits around the world, Photo London, PhotoVille NY, Festival Arles France, Royal Geographical Society UK, etc.
Anna is ambassador for Leica Camera and Canada Goose for Europe.
